Everyone
is NOT Doing It —Tape 4
In this videotape, Mike Long is speaking directly to parents and teachers of adolescents. He emphasizes the importance of directive teaching and parenting in training teens how to avoid potentially dangerous sexual consequences. He explains why abstinence from sexual activity outside of marriage must be the expected standard of behavior for all adolescents.
Long exposes the problems teens face from peer pressure regarding sex so that parents and teachers can have a better understanding of “where teens are coming from” on this subject. He identifies several pressures teens are exposed to on a daily basis that encourages them to be sexually active.
The challenge to parents is to assume a stronger role as director of their teens’ lives. Long explains why many parents have given up their directorship allowing negative sources to assume the role. Teens need love, affection, and attention from their parents now more than ever. If parents do not provide these needs, others will, possibly causing teens to succumb to peer pressure and become sexually active.
Finally, Long identifies the #1 problem everyone faces concerning AIDS and other STDs. The emotional distress teens suffer from premarital sex is also
greatly emphasized. This tape will provide the confidence parents and teachers need to reach teenagers more effectively.
